Concept Review

Congratulations on finishing the Intermediate section! Here, you can review the concepts from this section and then complete some activities and a challenge.

Programming

Loops are ways to tell the computer to repeat the same task multiple times.

What you program in Scratch, you can download onto the VEX brain so the robot remembers what to do!
Conditional statements allow the code to react to certain events. It gives the program many more functional possibilities.

Mechanical

Friction is a force that resists motion when objects rub against each other.

Center of gravity is the place on an object where the weight is evenly distributed and everything is balanced.
Robots need friction to drive properly, and center of gravity keeps the robot balanced.

A Mechanical Advantage is the calculation of how much faster and easier a machine makes your system.

Sensors

Bumper sensors, also known as touch sensors, sense physical touch to help a robot avoid obstacles.

Distance sensors measure the distance to an object, the size of the object, and how fast you are approaching.
