Intermediate Level 1
Lesson 4
Let's Test with Robbie the Robot!
Now that you have built a robot, you need to test it to see if it solves the problem!
You did it! Thank you so much! Now we can clear the obstacle out of the way!
Not yet Robbie! First, we need to test the solution to make sure it works.
Ooh okay, how do you test a robot?
You can test your robot by trying to have it complete the task. If it solves the problem, you have a successful robot! If not, you need to go back to the design phase and change your robot. This is called redesigning.
That's right! Steps 4 and 5 of the Engineering Design Process are Test the Model and Redesign!
Phase 4: Test the Model
Download the program you wrote onto your robot.
1.
Place your robot on the ground near the obstacle.
2.
Press the checkmark button on the robot brain to start your program!
3.
Test again! It's always a good idea to test multiple times.
4.
For help downloading your program, check out the VEX IQ Info page.
Phase 5: Redesign
Record in your Engineering Notebook how your test went. For instructions on how to make one, click here!
How did your test go? Was your robot able to clear the obstacle?
If your robot completed the challenge, congratulations! You did it! If not, don't worry, you can redesign.
If you need to redesign your robot, go back to your Engineering Notebook and think of a new way to design your robot. You can change something on your original design, or maybe make a whole new one!
Congrats you've completed Intermediate Level 1!
