Advanced Level 2  Lesson 4

Testing

After building and programming your robot, take it to the field for testing!

After you have finished building and programming your robot, you're ready to test it out! Make sure you've downloaded the code onto your robot before testing.

Need help downloading your code?

Click on the information icon to go to the VEX IQ Information Page for instructions and other programming help.

What can you write in your notebook?

When your observe your robot, write about what it does on the field. How many cubes does it pick up in one minute? Does it pick up any? Is it able to detect the cubes?

Be sure to record which test you are observing (first, second, last) so when you look at your notes later, you can tell what each design accomplished.

Place your robot in the starting position on the field and connect your controller to the robot. Start a timer for one minute, and see how many cubes you can score in the goal! Observe and record what your robot does in your engineering notebook.

If your robot can score cubes, test it a couple more times to make sure it works consistently.

If your robot cannot get a cube into the goal, try redesigning your robot or the code.

Try improving your design. Can your robot score more cubes? Can it detect or score the cubes in a different way?

After you've made your robot the best it can be, try competing with someone else! Who's robot can pick up more cubes?

Congrats you've completed Advanced Level 2!
